The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, through the Doctoral School in Transport, offers the PhD program in Transport Engineering for candidates interested in advanced research and innovation in the transport sector.
Admission is open to both EU and non-EU students, provided that the eligibility criteria and application requirements are met.
Each PhD student is supervised by a PhD supervisor (or even two in the case of co-supervision) and by a guidance committee consisting of at least three members, chosen by the supervisor. The PhD student submits several research progress reports and publishes at least three scientific articles on the topic of the PhD thesis, during the PhD period. Upon completion, the PhD thesis is electronically checked for plagiarism and defended in front of the PhD supervisor and the guidance committee. After this stage, the thesis is officially submitted to public consultation; the rector nominates an independent committee for public defense consisting of at least two members from other universities/research institutes in the country or abroad, and the doctoral school organizes the public defense. The entire process of conducting the doctoral program is evaluated by an advisory department of the Ministry of Education of Romania, and after its successful final approval, POLITEHNICA București issues the doctoral diploma.
